Smith Single Leg Split Squat

This is a leg exercise done on a Smith machine. It works your thigh muscles, as well as your butt and the back of your legs. You need to balance on one leg while your other foot rests on a bench behind you.

How to Perform

  1. 1Stand facing the Smith machine with your feet as wide as your shoulders.
  2. 2Put one foot on a bench or step behind you, keeping your toes pointing forward.
  3. 3Hold the Smith machine bar to help you stay steady.
  4. 4Bend your front knee to lower yourself into a lunge, while keeping your back straight.
  5. 5Stop briefly at the bottom, then push down with your front heel to stand back up.
  6. 6Do this for the needed number of times, then swap legs.
