Smith Reverse Grip Bent Over Row

The Smith Reverse Grip Bent Over Row is a back exercise done on a Smith machine. You hold the bar with your palms facing up and bend forward at the waist. This movement strengthens your upper back, biceps, and forearms by pulling the weight toward your body.

Smith Reverse Grip Bent Over Row demonstration

How to Perform

  1. 1Adjust the Smith machine bar so it rests at the level of your hips.
  2. 2Stand in front of the bar with your feet as wide as your shoulders.
  3. 3Unlock your knees slightly and lean forward from your hips while keeping your back flat.
  4. 4Hold the bar with your palms facing up and your hands shoulder-width apart.
  5. 5Pull the bar up toward your lower chest and squeeze your shoulder blades together.
  6. 6Hold the weight at the top for a second, then slowly lower it back to where you started.
  7. 7Do this for the number of times you want to repeat the exercise.
