How to Perform

  1. 1Set the Smith machine bar to a height just below your shoulders.
  2. 2Stand facing the bar with your feet as wide as your hips and toes pointing forward.
  3. 3Step onto the edge of a block or platform so the balls of your feet are on it, but your heels hang off the back.
  4. 4Hold the bar with your hands to stay steady, keeping your back straight and your stomach muscles tight.
  5. 5Push up onto your toes, lifting your heels as high as you can.
  6. 6Hold firmly for a moment at the top.
  7. 7Slowly lower your heels back down until they are below the edge of the step.
  8. 8Repeat these steps for your set.
