Smith One Leg Floor Calf Raise

This exercise uses a Smith machine to build strong calf muscles. It also helps work the muscles in your legs and bottom. You lift your heel while balancing on one leg to push against the weight of the bar.

Smith One Leg Floor Calf Raise demonstration

How to Perform

  1. 1Get on the floor under the Smith machine bar, with your back to the machine.
  2. 2Put the balls of your feet on a block or weight plate.
  3. 3Place the bar across your lower legs, right above your ankles.
  4. 4Hold the bar with your hands to stay steady.
  5. 5Push your toes down to lift your heels and body up.
  6. 6Stop for a moment at the top, then slowly lower your heels back down.
  7. 7Do this as many times as you need.
