Smith Incline Shoulder Raises

This exercise works the serratus anterior muscles using a Smith machine. You perform it by standing at an angle and lifting the bar straight up. This movement focuses on your shoulders and the upper part of your chest.

How to Perform

  1. 1Set the Smith machine to a slanted position.
  2. 2Stand in front of the machine with your feet as wide as your shoulders.
  3. 3Hold the bar with your palms facing down. Your hands should be a little wider than your shoulders.
  4. 4Keep your back flat and tighten your stomach muscles.
  5. 5Lift the bar up toward the roof, letting your elbows lead the way.
  6. 6Stop for a moment at the top, then slowly lower the bar back down to where you started.
  7. 7Do this again for the number of times you want to repeat.
