Smith Hip Raise

This exercise is done on a Smith machine and works your stomach muscles, as well as your bottom and legs. You lift your hips up until your body is straight, keeping your core and lower body tight.

Smith Hip Raise demonstration

How to Perform

  1. 1Sit on the Smith machine with your back resting against the pad and your feet apart like your shoulders.
  2. 2Hold the bar with your hands a little wider than your shoulders.
  3. 3Tighten your stomach and bottom, then push down with your heels to lift your hips up.
  4. 4Keep lifting until your body makes a straight line from your knees to your shoulders.
  5. 5Stay there for a moment, then slowly lower your hips back to where you started.
  6. 6Do this again for as many times as you want.
