Smith Decline Bench Press

This chest exercise is done on a bench angled downward, using a Smith machine. It focuses on your chest muscles but also works your arms and shoulders. Because the machine guides the bar for you, it is steadier and safer than using a regular barbell.

How to Perform

  1. 1Set the bench to a downward slope.
  2. 2Lie on your back and hook your feet under the pads to stay in place.
  3. 3Hold the bar with your hands a little wider than your shoulders.
  4. 4Unlock the bar and lower it slowly to your chest while keeping your elbows close to your sides.
  5. 5Stop for a short moment at the bottom, then push the bar back up to where you started.
  6. 6Do this again for the number of times you want.
