Smith Deadlift

This is a lower body exercise done on a Smith machine. It mostly works your butt muscles, but also uses your legs and lower back. Because the machine moves the bar in a straight line for you, it helps you stay steady and learn the movement easily.

How to Perform

  1. 1Put the Smith machine bar at the same height as your hips.
  2. 2Stand with your feet as wide as your shoulders, with your toes pointing out a little bit.
  3. 3Bend your hips and knees while keeping your back straight and chest up. Hold the bar with your palms facing down, with your hands a little wider than your shoulders.
  4. 4Tighten your stomach muscles. Lift the bar by straightening your hips and knees, keeping the bar close to your body.
  5. 5Stand all the way up until your legs and hips are straight.
  6. 6Lower the bar slowly by bending your hips and knees again. Keep your back straight and move carefully.
  7. 7Do this again for as many times as you need to.
