Olympic Barbell Triceps Extension

This strength exercise works the muscles on the back of your arms, called the triceps. You do it by lifting a barbell straight over your head, lowering it slowly behind your neck, and then pushing it back up to the top.

Olympic Barbell Triceps Extension demonstration

How to Perform

  1. 1Stand tall with your feet shoulder-width apart. Hold the barbell with your palms facing forward.
  2. 2Lift the bar straight up until your arms are fully straight above your head.
  3. 3Keep your upper arms locked next to your head. Bend your elbows to lower the bar behind you.
  4. 4Wait for a second, then push the bar back up until your arms are straight again.
  5. 5Repeat these steps for the number of times you want to do the exercise.
