This standing exercise builds strong shoulders using one arm at a time. You hold a dumbbell with your palm facing inward and push it straight up. It also uses your arm and tummy muscles to keep your body steady.

How to Perform

  1. 1Stand tall with your feet apart. Hold a dumbbell in one hand next to your shoulder, with your palm facing your body.
  2. 2Tighten your tummy muscles and keep your back flat.
  3. 3Push the weight straight up until your arm is completely straight.
  4. 4Stop for a short moment at the top, then slowly bring the weight back down to your shoulder.
  5. 5Do this for the right number of times, then switch to your other arm.
