This is a seated exercise that focuses on making your calf muscles stronger. You sit down and hold a dumbbell on your thigh while you move your leg. It helps your calves build strength and endurance, and it also works your leg and bottom muscles a little bit.

Dumbbell Seated One Leg Calf Raise - Palm Up demonstration

How to Perform

  1. 1Sit on a bench or chair. Keep your back straight and your feet flat on the floor.
  2. 2Hold a dumbbell in one hand and rest it on your thigh with your palm facing up.
  3. 3Lift one leg up and straighten it out in front of you, but keep a small bend in your knee.
  4. 4Push through the ball of your foot to lift your heel as high as you can.
  5. 5Wait for a second at the top, then slowly lower your heel back down.
  6. 6Do this for the right number of times, then switch to the other leg.
