Dumbbell One Arm Shoulder Press

This exercise works your shoulder muscles by pushing a weight up with just one arm. It also strengthens your arm and upper back. Because you are only lifting on one side, you must use your stomach muscles to keep your body steady and balanced.

Dumbbell One Arm Shoulder Press demonstration

How to Perform

  1. 1Stand with your feet as wide as your shoulders. Hold a weight in one hand by your shoulder with your palm facing forward.
  2. 2Push the weight straight up until your arm is fully straight above your head.
  3. 3Stop for a short moment at the top, then slowly lower the weight back down to your shoulder.
  4. 4Do this for the number of times you want, then switch hands and do the same thing with the other arm.
