Cable Twist

This exercise works your tummy muscles, especially the ones on the sides. You use a machine with a cable to twist your upper body while pulling against weight. This helps make your middle section strong and steady.

How to Perform

  1. 1Stand with your feet apart, about as wide as your shoulders, looking at the machine.
  2. 2Grab the handle with both hands and hold it in front of your chest with your arms bent just a little.
  3. 3Tighten your tummy muscles and turn your upper body to the right, pulling the cable across you.
  4. 4Stop for a second when you finish the twist to feel your tummy muscles working.
  5. 5Slowly move back to where you started, fighting against the pull of the cable.
  6. 6Do the same movement turning to the left side.
  7. 7Keep switching sides until you finish all your turns.
