Cable Thibaudeau Kayak Row

This exercise works your back muscles using a cable machine. You use one arm at a time, moving like you are paddling a kayak. This helps you build strength on both sides of your body.

Cable Thibaudeau Kayak Row demonstration

How to Perform

  1. 1Put a handle on the low setting of the cable machine. Sit down facing the machine with your feet flat on the floor.
  2. 2Hold the handle with your right hand. Straighten your arm all the way out, but keep your elbow bent just a little bit.
  3. 3Lean forward at your waist. Keep your back straight and your tummy muscles tight.
  4. 4Pull the handle toward your body. Pull your shoulder blade back and bend your elbow. Keep your arm close to your side.
  5. 5Squeeze your back muscles when the handle is close. Then, slowly move your arm back to where it started.
  6. 6Do this as many times as you need to. Then switch hands and do the same thing with your left arm.
