Barbell Sumo Deadlift

This exercise is a strong lift that works your butt muscles. It also uses your leg muscles and lower back. You stand with your feet wide apart and lift the weight using your hips and legs.

How to Perform

  1. 1Stand with your feet wide apart, wider than your shoulders. Point your toes out to the sides.
  2. 2Put the barbell on the floor in front of you, right in the middle of your feet.
  3. 3Bend your knees and lower your bottom. Keep your back flat and chest up. Hold the bar with both hands.
  4. 4Tighten your tummy. Push down with your heels to lift the bar. Straighten your legs and hips at the same time.
  5. 5Keep your chest up and back flat while you lift. Push your hips forward to squeeze your butt muscles.
  6. 6Stop for a second at the top. Then, slowly lower the bar back to the floor without dropping it.
  7. 7Do this again for the number of times you want.
