Barbell Standing Wide Military Press

This exercise works the shoulder muscles. It also uses the muscles in your arms and upper back. To do it, you stand up and push a barbell over your head from your shoulders, holding the bar with your hands widely apart.

How to Perform

  1. 1Stand with your feet as wide as your shoulders. Hold the bar with your palms facing down, placing your hands a little wider than your shoulders.
  2. 2Lift the bar up to your shoulders. Keep your elbows pointing slightly forward in front of the bar.
  3. 3Push the bar straight up over your head until your arms are fully straight.
  4. 4Bring the bar back down to your shoulders and do it again.
