Barbell Standing Close Grip Curl

This exercise builds strength in your biceps and forearms. You lift a barbell while holding your hands close together. This movement focuses on the inner side of your biceps.

Barbell Standing Close Grip Curl demonstration

How to Perform

  1. 1Stand tall with your feet apart. Hold the bar with your palms facing up and your hands close to each other.
  2. 2Keep your elbows tight against your ribs. Do not move your upper arms.
  3. 3Breathe out as you lift the bar. Squeeze your arm muscles until the bar reaches your shoulders.
  4. 4Pause at the top and squeeze your biceps hard.
  5. 5Breathe in as you slowly lower the bar back to where you started.
  6. 6Do this again for the number of times you want.
