Barbell Seated Twist

This exercise works your stomach muscles, especially the sides and lower back. You perform it by sitting on a bench, holding a barbell, and slowly turning your upper body from side to side.

Barbell Seated Twist demonstration

How to Perform

  1. 1Sit on a flat bench. Keep your feet flat on the floor and your knees bent.
  2. 2Hold a barbell with both hands in front of your chest. Keep your elbows bent a little bit.
  3. 3Tighten your stomach muscles. Keep your back straight and slowly turn your upper body to one side.
  4. 4Stop for a second at the end of the turn. Then, slowly turn back to the middle.
  5. 5Do the same turn to the other side.
  6. 6Keep switching sides until you finish the set.
