Barbell Incline Row

This exercise strengthens your upper back. You lie on your stomach on a slanted bench and pull a weighted bar up to your chest.

Barbell Incline Row demonstration

How to Perform

  1. 1Set the bench to a slant (45 degrees).
  2. 2Lie on your stomach with your chest against the pad and your feet flat on the floor.
  3. 3Hold the bar with your palms facing down, placing your hands a little wider than your shoulders.
  4. 4Keep your back straight and tighten your stomach muscles.
  5. 5Pull the bar up to your chest and squeeze your shoulder blades together.
  6. 6Stop for a second at the top, then slowly lower the bar back down.
  7. 7Do this again for the number of times you want.
